CH Bulle - New concrete skatepark

After six months of construction, the new skate park in Bulle was able to reopen its doors to skaters before winter. Launched in 2019, the restoration is part of the Bouleyres sports zone redevelopment project and includes a new pump track, a large meeting area with a canopy, a promenade along the forest and various facilities for the public (club rooms, benches and picnic tables, bicycle parking, etc.).

The original skate park, which consisted of ageing modules on an asphalt surface, was always very popular - especially thanks to the animation and events of the Stones Family association - but needed a rejuvenation. The users were of course involved in the coordination phase to design a new skatepark together with Vertical that would meet the requirements and all practices (skateboarding, inline skating, BMX and scooters). The skatepark will also be open for WCMX (Wheelchair Moto Cross / wheelchair skating), a first in Switzerland. The skatepark includes, among other things, adapted approaches in the form of rollin and two wide rails for wheelchairs. The skatepark covers 1265m2 and is intended to be as inclusive as possible to suit as many people as possible. In addition to the pump track, there is a large bowl with a depth of 1.30 to 2.00m on the upper platform. The skate park is equipped with a range of skateboards. It offers various hips, a tilted volcano, an extension and various transfers to the rest of the park. The middle of the place is taken up by a typical "street" area. Here you will find classic elements with numerous curbs and ledges, different rails (round, rectangular, horizontal or sloped), different sets of stairs, etc. The possibilities to string tricks together are endless. On the forest side, you will find an airline unique in its configuration with various jump modules (volcano, speed bump, step-up) and a large, 3 m high wallride. Finally, on the street side, there is a slower line with small curbs, kerbs and rails, which is especially suitable for beginners.

We would like to thank all those involved in this beautiful project, especially the Stones Family association from Bulle, the Engler Ingénieurs SA office, the Jean-Jacques Borgeaud landscape office, the city of Bulle, the Grisoni Group (who did the earthworks) and the entire Vertical construction team. A very nice project - thank you once again for your commitment and quality work!
