In September 2019, Vertical was contacted by Marie-Claude Ruffieux from the municipal council in Remaufens to realize a halfpipe and additional skate facilities for the community. Since halfpipes are rarely requested, Paul Heuberger made contact to discuss the project in more detail. It turned out that Benjamin Friant, a professional scooter rider, had already conducted workshops with young people and a skatepark with a ramp was being planned.

The location next to a body of water at the sports field was determined after coordination with Paul Konan, vice president of the municipality, and following a workshop with Paul Heuberger. After clarifications regarding legal requirements, the municipal assembly, and submission of the building application, the planning steps followed with a surveyor and architects. In summer 2025, the building permit was granted.

The project in Remaufens is considered a pilot project in Switzerland, featuring an innovative mini ramp with a wave, a wave-shaped section between two ramps. This special design makes the facility accessible to users of various skill levels and also interesting for experienced riders.

For environmental compatibility, the entire facility was built on gravel, with the exception of seven foundation blocks that stabilize the ramps against wind and support the information board with standards. The skate facility measures 14.5 meters in length, 5.5 meters in width, with a platform height of one meter and a wave height of 0.5 meters. The riding surface consists of Skateface panels and is suitable for skateboarders, scooter riders, roller skaters, and inline skaters.

We thank all those involved, especially the young people who expressed the desire for the facility, as well as Benji Friant, the professional scooter rider, photographer, inventor (see foilscoot https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-foil-scoot-now-shipping#/), who brought us into the project. We also thank Marie-Claude Ruffieux, the municipal council, surveyor Marc Vuichard, and architect Damien Schmidt for their valuable support in the implementation. We wish the users and the community much enjoyment with the ramp specially developed for them.
