New Miniramp at Wangen-Brüttisellen Skatepark
On September 14, 2013, the new miniramp at Wangen-Brüttisellen skatepark was officially opened. Around 50 young people with skateboards, longboards, and scooters took the opportunity to extensively test the new facility.
During the inauguration, Mayor Marlies Dürst looked back on the development of the skatepark. Its history began back in 1997 with an asphalted area and the first small skate elements. Professional obstacles from Vertical Technik followed in 2007, including a bank and a Pandora Box with a ledge and round rail. Later, a quarterpipe from a neighboring municipality was added to the range.
New Miniramp with Extension
In 2013, the municipality of Wangen-Brüttisellen decided on a new miniramp with an extension. The goal was for the youth not only to use the finished facility but to actively participate in its creation.
Together with youth worker Silvan Küderli, they participated in a workshop at Vertical Technik AG. After gaining insight into the planning and construction of skate facilities, they went straight into the workshop.
There, the youth prepared their own miniramp for assembly together with the Vertical team. Screws were organized, wooden slats sorted, and metal parts loaded for transport.
Young people help with the installation
Assembly began at the Wangen-Brüttisellen skatepark on September 11. The youth were on-site early in the morning to support the assembly team in building the new miniramp.
Under professional guidance, the individual components were assembled, aligned, and secured. Additionally, the street area received a new round rail, which was set directly into the asphalt with concrete.
Through their active participation, the youth were able to experience and help shape the entire process, from preparation to the finished skate facility.
Inauguration with the Local Skate Scene
At the official opening on September 14, the participating youth were allowed to cut the red ribbon together and open the new miniramp.
The project demonstrates how youth participation and skatepark construction can be combined: the future users were not only involved in the planning but also contributed practically to the preparation and assembly.
Vertical Technik AG would like to thank the participating youth, the municipality of Wangen-Brüttisellen, and all project partners and employees for their dedicated cooperation.
