Compact Concrete Skatepark for the SkillsArena Thal SG
The concrete skatepark for the SkillsArena in Thal SG was planned and built by Vertical Technik. Together with the already completed street workout facility, it forms a versatile activity area within the SkillsArena.
The concept was developed in several design workshops together with young people from the municipality. This allowed their wishes and experiences to flow directly into the park’s design.
Despite its compact area, the skatepark offers varied lines and versatile usage options. Differently shaped concrete ramps, flowing transitions, and a central hump enable dynamic paths and various combinations. The facility is complemented by a rail and a ledge, which are suitable for slides, grinds, and technical tricks. Quarter pipes and spine-like elements create additional opportunities for jumps, transfers, and varied runs.
The robust concrete construction ensures a smooth riding surface and a direct ride feel. At the same time, the facility is durable, weather-resistant, and designed for long-term use in public spaces. By combining transition and street elements, the park appeals to different riding styles and experience levels – from initial practice to more demanding tricks.
Construction took place in autumn 2022. The opening of the entire SkillsArena took place after the completion of the pump track and the final surrounding works.
We thank the municipality of Thal for their trust and the OePlan planning office for the good cooperation.
